      <image:title>Saddle Fitting - Saddle fitting Service</image:title>
<image:caption>A fitting service includes: · Assessment of your horse’s physique and movement. · Templates taken as required- wither, shoulder, T12, topline, etc. · Assessment of your saddle to ensure it’s fit optimises your horse’s comfort and performance. · Alterations to your saddle as required, including flocking alterations and padding up. Horses change shape for various reasons- seasonal changes, injury or illness, work related changes, feed changes, etc. We suggest to have your saddle checked every 6 months or so, to help ensure it continues to fit your horse well. If you have a young horse or old horse, your saddle might need checking more often to accommodate their changes, as may horses recovering from an illness or injury.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When checking the stirrup bars, check: · The stirrup bars are level and parallel to each other. · Stirrup leathers can slide on to the bar with relative ease but not slide up and down when being used. · The movable part of the stirrup bar should always be in line with the rest of the bar, as shown in the picture. If it is left clicked up, it can stick and prevent the easy removal of the stirrup leather in an emergency.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When checking girth straps, check: · The holes line up across the straps so the girth is done up evenly. · The stitching at the top of the straps is in good condition- no broken or missing stitching. · The webbing that the straps are connected to is in good condition- no frays or rips in the webbing. · If the straps show signs of deterioration, they should be replaced.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Simple Checks - Checking a saddle tree</image:title>
<image:caption>To check the tree, hold the pommel of the saddle and place the cantle against your waist. Pull the pommel towards you to test the resistance. The tree should have no or very limited give. If the saddle creaks/squeaks or flexes to create a crease across the seat, then there maybe an issue with the tree and it should be checked by a qualified saddle fitter.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Simple Checks - Checking the panels</image:title>
<image:caption>For panels filled with flocking, they should be symmetrical in shape and size, as well as have a squishy feeling. To check them, place the pommel of the saddle on your feet with the panels facing away from you, or on a flat surface, panel up and the cantle towards you. Place a hand on each panel and run your fingers firmly down them from cantle to pommel. Feel for irregularities, such as lumps and hollows, and compare the shape of the panels. If there are any irregularities or the panels are not symmetrical, the flocking may need adjusting by a qualified saddle fitter.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Full reflock - Full Reflock</image:title>
<image:caption>Most saddles are filled or ‘flocked’ with a form of wool- normally Jacobs, long white or synthetic. Over time, all types of flocking moves around and can form lumps, particularly if there are different types of flock present. These lumps can cause pressure points under the saddle, which can lead to the horse being uncomfortable and lead to issues from soreness to behavioural problems. Most of the time, any hollow areas or lumps can be adjusted on site during a saddle service. If a saddle’s flocking is too old or lumpy to adjust on site, we can take it away for a full reflock. This service includes- · Dropping the panels · Checking the tree’s soundness · Stripping the panels and refilling them with fresh flocking · Reattaching the panels. · Fitting the reflocked saddle · Free check after 20 hours/6 weeks of use. We aim to do this service as quickly as possible so the saddle is out of use for the minimal amount of time. We also have a selection of hire saddles available, if you wish to still ride while your saddle is being reflocked.</image:caption>
